A Pastor and a Philosopher Walk into a Bar
Mixing a cocktail of philosophy, theology, and spirituality.
We're a pastor and a philosopher who have discovered that sometimes pastors need philosophy, and sometimes philosophers need pastors. We tackle topics and interview guests that straddle the divide between our interests.
Who we are:
Randy Knie (Co-Host) - Randy is the founding and Lead Pastor of Brew City Church in Milwaukee, WI. Randy loves his family, the Church, cooking, and the sound of his own voice. He drinks boring pilsners.
Kyle Whitaker (Co-Host) - Kyle is a philosophy PhD and an expert in disagreement and philosophy of religion. Kyle loves his wife, sarcasm, kindness, and making fun of pop psychology. He drinks childish slushy beers.
Elliot Lund (Producer) - Elliot is a recovering fundamentalist. His favorite people are his wife and three boys, and his favorite things are computers and hamburgers. Elliot loves mixing with a variety of ingredients, including rye, compression, EQ, and bitters.

It's counting, that means it's going.
Elliot:Yeah, you gotta start, and then and then do the do the I'm gonna start the recorder.
Kyle:I think it caught it. Should we get some work?
Randy:Hey friends. It has been way too long, and we just wanted to get an update out to you. It's been a little bit since we've posted an episode. It's been too long since you've heard our voices, it's been too long since we've cultivated some of these conversations that we love doing. And uh we're sitting here around a campfire in my backyard. It's probably 18, 19 degrees, somewhere in the teens. And we're just having conversations about the content that we want to create, the conversations we want to cultivate. Thinking about you.
Kyle:Yeah, we miss you guys. We've heard from some of you who are asking what we've been up to. We are still around. We're not planning on kicking the bucket anytime soon. We're actually excited for our next season. We have some fun things planned. We have people we still want to talk to, ideas we still want to explore that we haven't gotten to. We have a whole list of topics that you guys have sent us that we want to broach that we haven't had a chance to yet. Um we're just trying to figure out the best way to make that fit our current life situations.
Elliot:We don't know exactly what that means, but it it just means there's probably another couple weeks as we have some more conversations on the mic, bank some episodes, do some editing, get some conversations together. And so as we move from winter to spring, podcast will be back, and so you can look forward to that, and we'll look forward to uh sharing more of this with you then.
Randy:In the meantime, if you guys have ideas, people that you love to see us talk to, content or topics that you'd love to hear us talk with each other about, we'd love to hear some ideas from you guys. We'd love to we want to give you content that you're looking for. We want to have the conversations and hold space for those topics that are front of mind for you. There's so much going on in our world, it feels like everything's burning down as we speak. And we've been living through it too, and we felt paralyzed a lot like you have, I'm sure. And also want to live in a way that we're doing some good in this world. So let us know some content, let us know some ideas for topics and guests that you'd love to hear us talk to, any context that you have, and we're excited to get back to it and cultivate this space where we're making the world a better place. That sounds like a bit much.
Kyle:So, we love you guys. Thanks for listening. As always, we'll talk to you soon.
